Sometimes, nothing beats a staycation, and recently I got to experience Sydney in a whole new light at The Old Clare Hotel. It’s always so nice to explore new parts of your hometown, and try a selection of new restaurants and cafes (Old Clare does an amazing room service breakfast by the way!). But, what does one pack for a quick overnight stay? The answer – classic, fail safe denim, a crisp white shirt, and this season’s must-have accessories thanks to one of my favourite online destinations, Farfetch.
I have always been one to dress minimally and let my accessories do the talking, and these new favourites are both subtle and stylish (tick!). First up is the updated Bonsai Bag by Simon Miller. This is a real crowd favourite, and while I love its tiny counterpart that debuted last year, this beauty in a soft black suede with oversized wooden handles, is both statement-making and practical. Secondly are these slip on kitten heels by Manolo Blahnik with that gorgeous buckle detail. These are so comfortable to walk in, and I love mixing it up by going with a navy shoe instead of black.
When packing for a weekend away, all I do is add a simple white t-shirt, a black leather jacket and a pair of white sneakers and I have the perfect capsule wardrobe. It packs down so easily, and when you focus on key pieces, it’s always easy to mix and match. Introducing those new accessories to your wardrobe is also a great way to lift and update any outfit, even if baggage allowance might not be on your side! So now you have it, my tips for packing for a whirlwind night (or two) away, and the finishing touches you’ll see me pairing back with every outfit for the season.
