IT’S SILLY SEASON
It’s December 11th which means our schedules are about to get very, very busy. With back to back festivities and work wrapping up for the year, it can make choosing outfits a task, and not the fun experience it should be.
Over the past month of travel, I have really realised what I both love and need in my wardrobe and what I definitely do not. The kind of things I need are those which serve a purpose both day and night and items that I know will look good, no matter what. I have also come to that age where quality over quantity is more important to me, because even though my well constructed pyramid of clothing has been fun to look at over the years, it is not economical, nor is it sustainable. I am now moving towards buying quality, investment pieces which transcend season to season like designer shoes and clothing that I know I won’t grow tired of after a few wears.

CHRISTMAS IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE
Being in the Southern Hemisphere with temperatures up to 39°C over the Christmas period, lends to all of us gals wearing all the summer attire like cocktail dresses, heels (much like these Saint Laurent shoes) and two-piece co-ordinates.
There is something that works so well with building an outfit from the ground up or based around the accessories you want to wear. My theory is, if you shop wisely and make sure your accessories, like bags and shoes are adaptable to other pieces in your wardrobe, you won’t run out of things to wear – our biggest fear, righhhht?
WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT
Everyone has their own idea of the perfect party outfit, and for me, this season I love nothing more than a silk dress, a skirt or pants and a crop teamed with some mid-height heels. Why? Because I can’t think of anything worse than blistered feet at 12am from a pair of vertiginous heels.
There is nothing worse than getting yourself into the dreaded clothing spiral, so today, if you’re lacking inspiration, I have styled a couple of looks to inspire your selections over the next few weeks.

TIPS FOR CHOOSING SHOES FOR PARTY SEASON
Whether you prefer stilettos or platforms, classic styles or playful details
– Stick with larger heels because you won’t sink in any terrain
– Choose comfort
– Play with texture, embellishment and colour this season
– Play with a print like leopard. Not only is it a classic that comes around every season, it also goes with almost everything. My Saint Laurent Loulou heels from Selfridges are the most versatile heel I now own. I wear them throughout the day, and they’re the perfect (read: most comfortable) height.
– Choose something that looks great with jeans as well as something dressy, that way you know you will get more than a few wears out of it.
