South of the River has become Melbourne’s unofficial capital for all things Yoga and Pilates, with almost any incarnation of the activity available in the South Yarra/Prahran areas. Now, Studio PP has joined its ranks, opened this week by former Olympic snowboarder, Steph Prem.
It’s no surprise the athlete has had a long-held interest in health and wellness, but the affection for pilates grew during a long rehabilitation process, after Prem broke her back in a snowboarding accident in 2010.
She’s labelled her contemporary approach to health and wellbeing as the ‘Premium Performance’ method, which is all about being the best version of ourselves we can be.
So what makes this new venture, Studio PP any different to the others? Steph explains:
“I agree certainly Yoga and Pilates are in the spotlight at the moment. I think that has a lot to do with people taking more interest in their health and fitness and what it can do for them not just physically, but mentally”.
“Studio PP is different because we are a complete health and fitness service. The client has a choice as to what is best for their body and has options to mix it up.. keeping the routine interesting and motivating. At Studio PP we offer everything from reformer pilates and 3 different styles of yoga to personal training, barre, boxing and bootcamp all under one roof. Plus we have a resident nutritionist and massage therapist available to clients”.
It’s fair to say this is not just another yoga studio. Studio PP embraces a holistic approach to health, and if like me you enjoy doing motivating classes (that you can’t give up on after 15 minutes!), and keeping it interesting with boxing one day, ballet another, then it’s well worth trying a class.
Studio PP is located at Level 1, 7 Almeida Crescent, South Yarra VIC.
