And then came Lemaire…
Every now and then come those style-defining collections that make you rethink your whole wardrobe. Why don’t I wear white trousers and jeans more often or simple utilitarian jackets with jackets with buckles and patch pockets? One of the things that I’m finding with the five piece challenge is that it really makes you think through each and every purchase, and as a result I’m still yet to commit to anything.
I remember feeling strongly about Lemaire’s Fall Winter collection, the combination of drapery and tailoring and those oversized knits and coats paired with scarf-like ties. So it’s probably little surprise that the new Spring Summer collection also has my heart racing.
From my initial list last month, the only piece that remains is the Chloe Faye bag. While I still do love the other pieces on the list, I’m having a rethink based on a few great things that have entered my wardrobe through work and new season arrivals that are calling my name. Updated list below!
The winter coat / the jacket shirt
I was very lucky to have three beautiful coats come my way so I’m now thinking of investing in a great new jacket instead. My favourite Helmut Lang blazer has lasted well over the years, but it’s probably time for a new one. Trying to decide between something more classic like this APiece Apart blazer, or the Lemaire shirt-like option in beige or navy.
The wrap skirt
Still in love with the style, but sadly too out of my price range. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for sale, and I also love this J.W. Anderson style. I found a great budget option on Asos, but it’s already gone in my size – the search continues!
The cashmere knit / the stripe shirt
I recently went through my vacuum packed clothes that I keep under the bed (more seasonal pieces) and rediscovered my J Crew cashmere v-neck. While I love the mock neck on the Sass & Bide style, I’m thinking the J Crew will see through my season, and instead I might go for this Bassike shirt I fell in love with a few weeks ago.
The black pump / the fancy flat
Ok so my pumps still need replacing, but one breakfast with Hannah later and I’m sold on the fancy flat. Particularly great for the office > appointments > drinks scenario. I have already decided on these Aquazzura flats, I couldn’t believe how comfortable my birthday heels were and I have a feeling these will be the same.
The investment bag
Yes Chloe, you’re the one.
