Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez are in Cannes selling Emilia Perez, a “transgender cartel musical,” per one of many critiques, which appear to be both glowing or unimpressed. Zoe performs a lawyer serving to a drug lord transition and disappear into that new life, and Selena is the cartel chief’s ex-wife. The lead actress, Karla Sofia Gascon, is trans herself and apparently does play the character pre-transition as effectively, which will need to have been emotionally difficult. The venture sounds audacious on the very least? Perhaps Zoe’s costume might be checked out as… a metaphor? For being sure to one thing that’s holding you again??? Am I being beneficiant? Perhaps.
